Today's Beveren is recognized in three colors: black, blue and blue-eyed white. They are a large multi-purpose breed with a distinct mandolin body shape, primarily being used for meat and fur. Adults weigh around 8-12 pounds and they produce large litters with a reasonably quick growth rate. They are a hardy breed with docile personailities. They are currently on the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy watch list.
